Ryan Picone and Friends

Dr. Ryan Picone has been studying the music of Django Reinhardt for over two decades and has performed both nationally and internationally in several contexts. In 2022, Ryan was featured at the DjangoAGogo Festival and performed at the legendary venue Town Hall in NYC. In 2023, he completed his debut album I – Awake with his quartet, which received glowing reviews within the Django community and from author Michael Dregni. That same year, his band, The Red Hot Django Peppers, was invited to perform at the Blue Ox Festival, where they became one of the first groups to introduce Hot Club Jazz to festival audiences. In September 2025, Ryan performed with legendary Sinti guitarist Paulus Schäfer, marking the first time a Sinti musician has ever performed in Minnesota.
